# A Losing Game
The idea of life, as it lives and breathes in me, of me, and beyond me, is a purveyor of many many gripes. I'm always humbled by the lessons learnt from being in a position where I feel as though I might lose something.
I've been reflecting on what it means to feel alive, and what life can even be categorized as. I'm reminded of anniversaries of friends who are no longer physically with us; it's a very tough experience, especially when it feels unfair to have them taken so soon.
In light of these very large feelings, I've come to a self-reflection, a reflection that flips our modes of living on its head. I believe that life is a losing game. There is no winning in life. There just is not. It's not supposed to be something you can "win". It's not a bad thing or even a sad thing to realize you were never meant to win. It's just not a game that you're meant to. Most games are winnable. This one is not.
Losing is a beauty, though. It is not something to weep and clutch your chest for. The hubris of man will make us feel as though to lose is to "not achieve". I reject this. We should all reject this. Losing is all that matters. In fact, I believe it makes more sense when you realize that this world is not made for you, but rather that you are made from it, of it, and with it. Like the cells that carry oxygen through the veins, arteries and capillaries of our bodies, we too band together in collectives, transferring breaths of life...together we work so that our shared experience here as one species of many, are kept alive, long after our bodies move beyond the physical.
We are meant to lose. A friend, a feeling, a passing of time, all of it is "lost". It is not ours to hold onto forever and keep, like one does a prize, a tournament, a championship. This world is everyone's and no one's, except itself. The Universe.
Lose yourself, to live yourself.
