It's the ultimate act of service, to provide assistance, guidance, and care for someone, while also knowing that it will come back to you from within... I've had the opportunity to be a part of mutual aid, both in giving and receiving. It's always rejuvenated me, emboldening me to make conscious ripples within my community, both in expanding the perspectives I gain, and in feeling like I'm heard by engaging directly from peer to peer in conversation, action, and feeling. The more I invest in communities, the more I find that the feeling of mutual aid shows up in many flavors and mediums. Sometimes its distributing clothes to those in need, other times it's as simple as curating a sound that gets people moving and grooving, forgetting about the troubles they face in the day to day. Mutual aid is respite, at its fundamental core. This week's episode is a preview to the tunes I'll be playing this weekend @ scribble.community for @ oatboat (which you should totally come to). Consider this episode a warmup, and maybe you'll listen to it while you make your way to our Mutual Aid Fundraiser, where you can experience live music, workshops on how to support your communities, and food. It'll be a great time to revitalize your faith in humanity, in case that has dwindled in light of recent world events.
